Dashboard to Controller Communication Fault
Scooter beeps 1 long and display flashes red. Scooter will not accelerate.
Data line cut, corroded connector pins between handlebar dashboard and base controller (ESC), or fried BLE chip.
Unscrew 3 dashboard screws, inspect the 4-pin round or flat cable for pinched insulation or green copper corrosion.
Throttle Hall Sensor Reading Abnormal
Scooter beeps 1 long 4 short beeps. Throttle does not respond or cuts off under load.
Throttle magnet has slipped out of its plastic channel, or Hall sensor voltage is out of expected 0.8V - 4.2V range.
Check if rubber handlebar grip is pressing against throttle lever preventing full return. Check magnet under throttle.
Brake Lever Hall Sensor Fault
Brake light continuously blinks, motor cuts off throttle input thinking brake is engaged.
Brake lever spring is weak or internal magnetic micro-sensor is detached or broken.
Gently push the brake lever outward (away from grip). If error disappears, the return spring is loose.
Motor Hall Sensor Malfunction
Motor shudders, vibrates violently, or locks up with grinding sound when throttle is applied.
Blown 41F Hall sensor IC inside front hub wheel, or severed 5-wire Hall sensor signal cable.
Measure voltage across 5-pin motor connector: GND (Black) to each Phase Sensor (Yellow/Green/Blue) while turning wheel slowly. Must toggle 0V to 5V.
BMS Battery Communication Failure
Scooter shuts down after 30 seconds, maximum speed limited to 15 km/h, tail light blinks error.
Blue/White BMS data line unplugged, loose spot-weld balance strip, or faulty BMS microcontroller.
Open bottom deck. Check BMS status LED on battery pack: Normal is blue blinking. Red blinking indicates BMS fault.
Supply Voltage Detection Abnormal
Scooter will not turn on or shuts off instantly when under load.
Main supply voltage measured on ESC board is below 30V or above 44V. Blown voltage regulator resistor.
Use multimeter on battery XT30 connector. Must be between 33V (empty) and 42V (fully charged).
Dashboard & ESC Mainboard Communication Lost
Beeps repeatedly, display shows 10 with wrench icon. Motor is disabled.
Internal stem cable pinched during folding, moisture in dashboard head unit, or damaged UART transceiver.
Unplug stem harness connector, spray electrical contact cleaner, check for bent golden pins.
Throttle Signal Error
Dashboard shows 14, scooter does not accelerate when kicking off.
Hall sensor output resting voltage is not within expected baseline (0.7V - 1.2V).
Ensure throttle ring snaps back completely when released.
Motor Phase Hall Sensor Failure
Rear motor clunks, vibrates, or shows Error 18 on dash with wrench symbol.
Melted motor phase connectors (brown/blue/yellow plugs) or burned internal Hall sensor chip.
Open bottom deck and inspect the three motor phase bullet connectors. Look for melted plastic sleeves.
Battery Cell Temperature Sensor Fault
Scooter will not charge or limits speed due to thermal protection warning.
NTC thermistor reading out of range (-20°C to +60°C) or disconnected temperature probe.
Allow scooter to rest at room temperature (20°C) for 2 hours. Check BMS status via Bluetooth app.
Motor Phase Hall Sensor Signal Fault
Display shows Error 08. Motor stutters loudly under load or cuts power abruptly.
Damaged internal rotor Hall sensor board or water intrusion inside stator casing.
Disconnect 8-pin main harness. Check for moisture or bent gold pins in waterproof Higo plug.
Throttle Position Error at Startup
Display flashes Error 04 upon turning on the e-bike. Motor will not assist.
Throttle was slightly pressed while powering on, or throttle magnet shifted.
Power off, let go of throttle completely, power back on. Verify throttle rotates freely.
Speed Sensor Signal Missing
E-bike motor cuts off after 5 seconds of riding, speedometer displays 0.0 km/h.
Spoke magnet misaligned from chainstay speed sensor, or sensor cable pinched in rear wheel.
Rotate rear wheel by hand. Watch speed sensor LED: it must flash red every time magnet passes.
UART / CAN Bus Communication Failure
Display turns on showing Error 30. No pedal assist or throttle response.
Main EB-BUS wiring harness damaged, controller internal UART transceiver fried, or display firmware incompatible.
Inspect the 8-pin round connector coming out of the motor for pin corrosion or bent pins.
How to Read PEV Diagnostic Codes Without a Display
Counting Long & Short Beeps
Older scooters without digital digit screens (like original Xiaomi M365) communicate error numbers through sound: Long beeps represent tens (10s) and short beeps represent units (1s).
Example: 1 Long Beep + 4 Short Beeps = Error 14 (Throttle Fault).
BMS LED Flashing Codes
When removing the deck lid, check the small indicator LED on the battery protection board: Steady blue blinking indicates normal operation. Red blinking or solid red signifies short circuit, cell over-discharge, or thermal lockout.
