Danger: High Voltage & Safety

Always disconnect the battery main power cable (XT30/XT60 red/black connector) before handling motherboard or motor cables to prevent permanent controller damage.

Repair Alert: Many error code repairs require opening the under-deck battery compartment. Lithium-ion batteries store massive energy; never puncture cells or short internal wires.

How Xiaomi Communicates Error Codes

Xiaomi scooters display error codes in two ways: either directly on the LED screen (for Pro, 1S, Pro 2, Essential models) or via dashboard flashes and buzzer beeps (for older standard M365 models).

The beep system uses long beeps for tens and short beeps for single units. For example: beep—beep-beep-beep-beep translates to 1 long (10) + 4 short (4) = Error 14.

Complete Xiaomi M365 / Pro Error Code Table

CodeSeveritySymptom & ComponentDiagnostic / Action
10MediumDashboard/BLE communication errorCheck the 5-pin wire inside the stem connection. Replug the dashboard connection.
11HighMotor Phase A current sensor failureRequires motherboard inspection. Replace the controller ESC.
12HighMotor Phase B current sensor failureRequires motherboard inspection. Replace the controller ESC.
13HighMotor Phase C current sensor failureRequires motherboard inspection. Replace the controller ESC.
14MediumThrottle Hall sensor abnormalCheck throttle magnet position. Replug or replace throttle.
15MediumBrake Hall sensor abnormalCheck brake lever magnet alignment. Replug or replace brake lever.
18HighMotor Hall sensor abnormalCheck the green, yellow, blue wires in the controller. Test Hall sensors inside motor.
21MediumBMS battery communication errorCheck the thin data line (BMS to controller). The blue flashing light on BMS should flash. Check connection.
22MediumBMS password errorRestore original serial numbers or re-flash standard BMS firmware.
23HighBMS default serial number errorThe BMS serial number is non-standard. Flash matching serials.
24HighSystem voltage abnormalCheck battery pack voltage using a voltmeter. Likely cell imbalance or incorrect charger.
27HighController serial number errorESC motherboard serial number is invalid. Re-flash original serial.
28HighMOSFET gate driver chip faultHigh-current MOSFETs blown. Replace the controller board.
35HighIncorrect controller serial numberSimilar to 27. Ensure the serial number matches hardware specifications.
39MediumBattery temperature abnormalThe battery is too cold (below 0°C) or hot (above 55°C). Let the scooter acclimatize.
Blowing MOSFETs (Error 28)

Error 28 is extremely common on M365/Pro scooters that have ridden down long hills with a full battery. Kinetic energy recovery (KERS) pushes charge back into the battery. If the battery is full, the BMS shuts off, creating a voltage spike that blows the MOSFET gate drivers. The best fix is to replace the controller ESC.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I read error codes on Xiaomi models without a screen?
For the standard M365 (no digital screen), errors are signaled by sound and light. Look at the bottom green LED on the dashboard or listen to the beeps. The scooter emits long beeps (tens digit) and short beeps (ones digit). For example, 1 long beep followed by 4 short beeps is Error 14.
Can a custom firmware flash cause error codes?
Yes, especially Error 27 or 28 (controller serial number or hardware configuration issues). If you flashed firmware meant for a Pro to a Standard M365, the controller will fail authentication. Reflash the correct OEM version via Bluetooth to fix.
Why does my scooter beep but has no error code on screen?
This occurs when the dashboard cannot establish communication with the motor controller (ESC). Check the dashboard data cable running down the stem for pinches or breaks.
